Hey Greg, I really like the Volcano. I use it in competition and at home all the time. It is so much more efficient and the key, consistent. I have had this one for a long time. It may be time to get another.

Does it get the bottom of the CO hotter than setting it over a flat bed of coals?

I use bricks and small pieces of wood to get mine hot enough to really sear.
