LET THE WEEKEND BEGIN

We cooked some ribs last night to begin the weekend of football and barbeque. Grills and smokers across the nation will be working overtime for the festivities this Sunday. These ribs were a warm-up to the game-day food frenzy.. They were smoked on the 14.5 WSM. The sauce was from our friends at 'Bart's Blazin Q' . Have fun!!

I'm firing up some ribs and chicken tomorrow. Can't wait. Just wish it was warmer.

Three Dogs BBQ, We are enjoying summer-like temperatures in the middle of a winter drought.

My 12lb packer is waiting in the fridge for tomorrow, if I don't get up early enough to do burnt ends the same day I will do them separately on Monday. Cheating, I know.

There is a new Oakland contest, Oaktown Throwdown, in August. Please submit your judges' apps now, the organizer is active.

Smoking Pig BBQ in San Jose is now serving burnt ends, started Friday. I've been wanting to try, but, San Jose. They say their Fremont location will open next month.

Tried Famous Dave's in Hayward on your recco, and agree- surprisingly good for a chain. I've had worse!

This concludes this PSA.

Damn forgot Oakland Restaurant Week's best deal, full order of the Town's best brisket, or ribs, slaw and yams for $20 at B-Side. Saves you $6, makes that cocktail look pretty cheap.

This officially concludes this PSA.

Now I want me some ribs

Aaron, Thanks for the heads up on the Throwdown. Just submitted apps. We may have to drive down to Smoking Pig for burnt ends. It is even a farther drive for us. We are a little spoiled being so close to Smokehouse 10. Let me know how the burnt ends turn out.

Big Dude, Me too.

Go, Niners!

Zoomie, I think you have reached the wrong number. It is funny we were just laughing about all the band wagon 9er fans that would come out this weekend.

Zoomie said...

I know you are a Raiders fan, but surely you can't be wanting the Seahawks to win today! I'd be rooting for the Raiders if they had made it to the playoffs,

Chilebrown said...

Zoomie, Okay, maybe that was a cheap shot of you being a band wagon fan, so here is your redemption to prove you are one of the faithful. Answer this easy 49er trivia question.

True or False,

Jerry Rice, one of the best 49er former wide receivers had a nickname of 'Fee Fee' because his hair style of 'Jerry Curls"

I'll take the Seahawks over the Forty Whiners every day of the week...

Zoomie said...

Chilebrown, I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised. Jerry Rice is a bit of a dude and a hell of a player.

Three Dogs BBQ, do I remember that you are a Denver fan? You have my sympathy.

Three Dogs BBQ said...

Zoomie. In today's game, I will be rooting for Denver. I can't stand the Pats. But, I am a 100% Steeler fan. Period.

Chilebrown said...

Just as I suspected.

Go ribs!!!

Zoomie said...

You want a package of Nueske corned beef hash to try? I have an extra.

Chilebrown said...

Greg, The ribs won.

Zoomie, Thank you for your generous offer but I am not a big corned beef hash fan. I will not mention the game yesterday.
