It was another beautiful weekend at Konicti Vista. The sun shined brightly and kept us searching for shade. Twenty one barbeque warriors staged battle for the coveted Grand Champion title. Being a judge has its perks. We were situated in an air conditioned casino. Our hardest duty was to not feed the slot machines too much. This event is one of our favorites. We spend Friday night at the casino hotel to be rested and refreshed for our Saturday judging duties. Friday evening we get to visit with our competitor friends.
The barbeque we tasted was excellent. We never get tired of judging the best barbeque in the nation. Unfortunately we can only pick one overall winner. The barbeque team ‘Woodhouse’ was crowned ‘Grand Champions” Congratulations! This weekend was an exercise in consuming mass quantities of food. We will have to visit the salad bar for several days before we go to Sparks Nevada for the ‘Nugget Rib Cookoff’ It is a tough job but somebody has to do it.
Rippers are good.
They are available at Scolari's in Alameda; not sure if they are a special as their menu's not online. Rico's Diner in Oakland used to have them, but I have been staying away since an unfortunate change in the kitchen and hours (eg dried out burgers and no more biscuits and gravy 9am weekdays).
Aaron, Rippers are good but not a quest item. We have a lead for burnt ends in Livermore. Rib Cook-off in Sparks later this week.
Chilebrown, Will you and Mrs. Goofy be wearing your judges badges for the Rib Cookoff in Sparks?
Hello Jes Warner, We will be Un-official judges at Sparks. We will be there for two days and Wednesday Joey Chestnut will defend his rib eating title. Are you going?
Living the dream! Win some money in Sparks.
Greg, We won close to two hundred dollars in Konicti. We are not big gamblers. I lose 40 bucks and I quit. I will drop a couple hundred dollars on a good meal though. Gambling in another form.
I love hot dogs!
Zoomie, The Ripper may just be the dog for you but I doubt it.
Yes, Kim and I are going Sunday til Monday. Molly Hatchet band will be there Sunday. I have another question for ya. Have you ever been to Red Ole 395 Grill in Carson City?
Jes Werner, I will have to put that on thte list for next time.
