LEDBETTER

Here is a product that caught my eye at a local supermarket in Carson City Nevada. It is a Beef Tenderloin Filet. It is wrapped in bacon. It comes in a very convienent 6 ounce package. The best part about this little hunck of beef is it only cost $3.98. I have never heard of this Company Ledbetter. At 3.98 I picked up 4 for research purposes.

I got it home and opened the package. It smelled fine. I added a little salt and pepper. I fired up a cast iron pan to a fairly high heat. I seared it on it sides to crisp up the bacon. I then place one side on the pan. I let it cook for aprox 4 minutes. I flipped it over and cooked for another 2 minutes. The total cooking time was close to 9 minutes. It came out a perfect Medium Rare.

It tasted great! It was very tender. The bacon was not memoreable but good. I would definately buy these again. I was a little shocked at the price. Something just doesn't seem right.

I tried searching for the Ledbetter company. I did not find out much. I then started to read the package. I think sometimes it is better to just not know. It contains 15 percent of a flavor enchancing solution. Sodium Lactate, beef flavor, salt, beef fat/powder, gelatin autolyzed yeast extract, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite, trisodium phosphate, maltodextrin and soy/wheat protein. I think a warning label should be posted "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

And all those chemicals probably just added to the cost! Strange.

This is most likely from "Ledbetter's Meats" North of Toronto in cottage country. They have their own special spices and marinades that are their secret. The price is due to their own cutting packaging and marketing, spicing, shipping. Their best seller is the "Cowboy steak". Sold fresh or frozen in 10 lb bags it is a marinaded steak that many will take over a filet. Amazing when you find out it is really "round steak". Great for parties in the big volumne bag. The Rib Eye or "Delmontico" steak for me is the best! At 7.99 a lb you absolutely cannot go wrong. A touch of garlic maybe, but it needs nothing. I know someone who cut it in chunks, put a piece of bacon on it and barbecued with only pepper. You would have thought a chef spiced it up!

Sorry people but I tried it and had to throw it out of my mouth and the rest in the trash... NEVER AGAIN
will I waste good money for this.....I thought it was a piece of meant not full of added Soy, Wheat and so many fillers..... When you buy cheap you get cheap... I LIKE REAL MEAT NOT FAKE ....A real piece of meat needs nothing added......Took it back cooked and in package and told store to eat it or send it back to get their money.... 2 weeks later they don't carry it. WARNING LABEL NEEDS TO BE IN BOLD LETTERS

Dear Past Customer of Ledbetter, That was a long time ago and I honestly had forgot all about meat from 15 years ago.
